I wrote this song to give my voice to the fight for equality. If you like it and it speaks to you, you should donate, support and stand up for the struggle that Black people face in this country.

When I first learned of the term white privilege I didn't realize the extent of my privilege. I know I have it easier when dealing with police. I know I don't have to live in constant fear of prejudice and bigotry. I know the history, or what I've been told, of oppression and slavery in this country. I know that racism has not gone away and that change isn't enough. I know the system that feeds racist oppression must be abolished completely and rebuilt.

What I DIDN'T know and what I have realized since the most recent murder of George Floyd and the many other unjust acts of murder against Black people, is that it is not enough to just KNOW, but it is my responsibility as a white person to DO and to show up for my fellow human. America and the system of oppression that created it has shown us over and over that we need to change and create a new system that works for ALL people or we will be doomed to repeat our blood soaked history again and again. I used to think that since I am living a white experience I have no right to feel deeply about the Black experience but it's exactly the opposite. Black people need allies on there side and always have. It's time we all show up as one for the cause and stop hiding from it. 2020 is opening our eyes to what we have been blind to for too long. Now that the truth is out in full view for all to see, we can no longer look away.
